Road work began Tuesday on an approximate half mile of Highway 48 crossing the Blue River. This section of the road will be closed for the length of the project.
The project will replace the Blue River Bridge and a smaller bridge adjacent to the Blue River Bridge.
The project is set to last no more than 210 days ending in March of next year. The residents in the area will have to use designated alternate routes for travel.
“We realize it’s a long route and inconvenient,” said Bret Frank of the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.
He said ODOT is trying to get this done as quickly as possible because of the extreme inconvenience it will cause to residents, but it was something that has to be done.
