The Durant Lady Lions softballers are continuing their winning ways with an easy win with over Shawnee on Friday afternoon, 7-0.
This was sweet revenge for the Lady Lions. The last time these two played Shawnee came away with the win.
“It was a big win for us. That team beat us 3-2 in 11 innings at their place and we only got two hits in that game,” said Durant’s head coach Aaron Mullens. “We had good at-bats today.”
Mullens said that Shawnee’s pitcher is, “Very good. She spots the ball and she throws a change up and a curve ball. And we have been working on that and we did a good job today.”
Lady Lion Kyile Manning hit her second career home run on Friday and it was her first at the Lady Lions new ballpark. And pitcher Sidney Hampton shut down Shawnee batters.
Macy Powell broke the scoreless tie in the bottom half of the third inning when she smashed a bases loaded RBI single. Then Breanna Simmons kept things rolling with an RBI blast and Madison Gray finished off the scoring with a 2 RBI line drive. Durant led 4-0.
Then the Lady Lions finished off the game in the fourth inning when Manning stepped into the batters box and crushed a 3-run home run over the left field wall.
Senior day games on Saturday against Tulsa Edison were rained out. Make up times (if any) will be announced this week, as those games could have an affect on regional seeding.
