Cowboy Cookout held for AAFB newcomers

Altus Air Force Base newcomers were greeted at the Altus Chamber of Commerce Committee of 100 “Cowboy Cook-out” on Monday evening, Oct. 7, at the Museum of the Western Prairie on Falcon Road. New Air Force members, students, and those returning from deployment were treated to a cook-out dinner of burgers and hot dogs, while enjoying the scenery and preserved history of Southwest Oklahoma. Musical entertainment was provided by “Call Us When You Need Us” band.

Chairman of Committee of 100, Eva Letha Luca, introduced members of the Altus Chamber of Commerce, members of the Committee of 100, and Museum of the Western Prairie staff. Lucas also introduced Col. Bill Spangenthal, Commander of the 97th Air Mobility Wing. Luca then called on Col. Spangenthal who introduced Commanders, students, newcomers, and returnees.

The Altus Committee of 100 is a group of Altus Chamber members and local businesses who welcome AAFB newcomers to Altus.
