Six individual athletes and two teams will be competing at the Class 2A and 3A state cross country meets this Saturday in Shawnee.

That is, if the weather cooperates. The National Weather Service holds a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms for Shawnee on Saturday.

The meet is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Gordon Cooper Technology Center. In Class 2A, Micaela Curtman of Calera will represent Bryan County. The 2A boys run at 10:45 a.m., with Lucas Wright (Calera) and Logan Hestily (Victory Life Academy) representing Bryan County.

Silo girls and boys teams have qualified for the state tournament. The girls run at noon and will be joined by Kingston athletes Grayce Werth and Reagan Wigley. The boys run at 12:45 p.m. and in addition to the Silo team, Ben Whipkey of Kingston will represent this area.

In regional cross country, Durant High School teams are scheduled to participate in their meet at 2 p.m. Saturday at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa.
