DURANT, Okla. – The Southeastern rodeo program is hosting the inaugural Betty Gayle Cooper Ratliff Alumni Rodeo which is set for Nov. 16 at the Durant Expo Center Fairgrounds with the rodeo slated for 7 p.m. and a barbeque to precede it at 4 p.m.
Admission to the events is $10 which is good for the barbeque and the rodeo. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Southeastern Welcome Center on campus or through rodeo coach Christi Braudrick at the equestrian center by contacting her at 580-745-2708. Tickets can also be purchased at the door.
There will be a presentation of a plaque of Betty Gayle Cooper Ratliff by the Cooper Family at 6 p.m.
The rodeo will be held at the indoor arena at the fairgrounds and there will be a concession stand available.
In addition to the rodeo itself, the program is holding a series of auctions.
The first is a silent auction which will feature a variety of items and will begin when the barbeque opens at 4 p.m. and continue through the rodeo until 9 p.m.
Beginning at 5:30 p.m. there will be a live “Top-Hand Auction” in which those in attendance can bid on four hours of time in which a pair of SE rodeo competitors will be available for work the bidder needs done.
In conjunction with the “Top-Hand Auction” there will also be a live auction item available for bid. The breeding stud fee for the horse Slick By Design, valued at $1,500 will be up for bid. Slick By Design has lifetime earnings of $150,000. He is a futurity and derby barrel racing champion and an American Quarter Horse Association World Champion. He is currently ridden by Michelle McCloud who is ranked third heading into the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas December 5-14 2013.
