The Durant Kiamichi Technology Center’s Stand for the Silent Chapter recently visited Silo Elementary. Stand for the Silent is an anti-bullying organization founded by Kirk and Laura Smalley from Perkins, OK. They started the organization after their 11 year old son, Ty, committed suicide due to being bullied in school. It is now a nation-wide organization.
The KTC students visited the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade classes. They read books about bullying to the students and then led a discussion about how to handle bullying and who you should tell if being bullied. KTC would like to thank Silo School for allowing them this opportunity.
The Stand for the Silent Chapter also sponsored a Veteran’s Day Assembly at KTC. All veterans and active duty military were recognized.
