ROXANA — A Granite City man is facing four felony sex charges including two Class X charges of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child after he was accused of performing acts of sexual penetration on two girls, both very, very young.
John Hensley, 41, was charged with two counts of criminal sexual assault of a child and two class of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
He was accused of sexual acts with two different girls and of making them fondle him between Oct. 1 and Oct. 16, 2013.
Authorities said Hensley is not related to the children but is a friend of their father. He allegedly committed the acts while staying at the home of the victims and their parents.
The mother found out about the alleged crimes and reported the details to the Roxana Police Department, authorities said.
Bail was set at $250,000. The Class X felonies are punishable by between six and 30 years in prison. The judge must sentence the defendant to prison, if convicted.
The abuse charges are Class 2 felonies. They are punishable by a term of between three and seven years. Hensley was charged Friday.
The Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office filed a motion for additional conditions of bail bond in the base. The motion claims Hensley has previously threatened or perpetrated physical abuse toward the victims.
The prosecutors alleged he presents a continued threat to the victims and may harm harass or interfere with their personal liberty while the cases are pending.
A judge entered an order for Hensley to refrain from harassing, intimidating or interfere with the personal liberty of the victims. He must not enter the premises of their home in Roxana; he must not have any contact with them, and he must remain at least 1,500 feet away from them.
