Several Caddo Jr. High powerlifters won at the East Oklahoma Jr. High State Meet which was held at Cleveland High School recently.
Freshman Daniel Hawkins was the state champion in the 165 lbs. weight class with a total of 865 lbs. PJ McClure, 8th grade, was the 165 lbs. weight class state runner-up with a 770 lbs. a three lift total and Jaren Proctor, 8th grade, was the state champion in the 220 lbs. division with a three lift total of 1065lbs.
Jaren is one of the strongest 8th graders in the state. Other notable lifters competing at the state meet were, 7th grader Austin Wingfield who lifted in the 90 lbs. class and placed 4th in the bench. Eight grader Ethan Friedman lifted 132 lbs. class and placed 2nd in the deadlift. Ninth grader Jonathun Atwood lifted in the 165 lbs. class and did well.
“These are the lifters who will have to fill the shoes of those seniors who will be leaving this year. The future looks good for the program. If these guys keep improving at the pace they are at now, we could have some high school state contenders for years to come. I’m really proud of all of our lifters.” said coach Jeremy Proctor.
