DURANT – Southeastern Athletics was recently the recipient of two Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) which have been provided through proceeds from Colton’s Main Street Run.
The two additional AED devices brings SE’s total in the athletic department to eight which provide coverage for every set facility along with the flexibility to cover events not tied to a specific venue.
“We are very appreciative of this donation from the Sherrill family,” said Director of Athletics Keith Baxter. “The addition of these devices gives us more coverage and flexibility to have these life-saving devices available at every venue which benefits the safety of student-athletes, staff and fans in those facilities.”
The Sherrill family has turned a tragedy into triumph by providing life-saving training to 335 teachers, coaches and support staff and AEDs to all area schools.
To date, 38 AEDs have been donated to the City of Durant, Southeastern, all Durant Schools, Bennington, Achille, Colbert, Calera, Caddo, Rock Creek, Silo, and Victory Life Schools.
Colton’s Main Street Run is scheduled October 18, 2014.
