MUSKOGEE - A Durant man has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for mailing a Bryan County judge a threatening letter, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced Wednesday. Robbie Lynn Naramore, 35, will also be under three years of supervised probation upon his release. Naramore was indicted in June 2010 on one count of mailing a threatening communication. The indictment followed an investigation by the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI. He pleaded guilty to the crime in July 2010, and at that time, the court ordered a mental evaluation. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the two-year delay in Naramore’s sentencing was due to competency issues.

Naramor was accused of sending a threatening letter to Bryan County Special Judge Trace Sherill, who presided over Naramor’s trial on domestic abuse charges. Sherrill had sentenced Naramor to 90 days in jail and ordered a mental evaluation. According to federal prosecutors, Naramor sent a letter from jail threatening to kill the judge and the judge’s family.

The Honorable James H. Payne, District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Muskogee, presided over Wednesday’s hearing. Naramore remains in the custody of the United States Marshal Service pending transportation to the designated federal prison at which he will serve his non-parolable sentence. Assistant United States Attorney Shannon Henson represented the United States. In other crime news Sheriff’s Sgt. Jason Bannowsky investigated a burglary recently in the 1000 block of Old Caddo Highway. Sean Alex Rowland said the door to his home had been kicked open and approximately 25 video games and two video game players were stolen.
