The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is not releasing any additional details about a shooting death that happened early Thursday morning at a Wade residence.

According to OSBI, Parker Allen Tyson, 27, who was armed with a handgun, kicked in the door to a home at 42 Main St. in Wade, and a person inside the home shot Parker several times. Tyson was taken to the Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma where he was pronounced dead later that morning.

OSBI Public Information Officer Jessica Brown said the agency could not release the name of the shooter or other details because no one has been arrested or charged in the case, which remains under investigation.

The Bryan County Sheriff’s Office called in OSBI to handle the case.

A report will be turned over to Bryan County District Attorney Emily Redman for review, who is being updated on the case as the investigation continues.

Brown did not know how long it would take to complete the investigation and she said that agency will be conducting forensic testing, interviews and waiting on an autopsy report.

“I have no idea (how long) because we’ve got a lot of work to do,” Brown said. “It will be many weeks down the road.”

Tyson has a prior criminal history and in 2009, he was sentenced to five years in prison after pleading no contest to leaving the scene of a fatality accident and second-degree manslaughter.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, in August 2008, Tyson, who was driving a pickup on Cade Highway northeast of Bennington, ran over and killed Joshua Lynn Williams, 20.

OHP investigators said Tyson left the scene and later called a person and said he killed someone, but could not tell the police because because he was drunk. Tyson claimed the man was laying in the road at the time of the accident.

He also had unrelated convictions of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and eluding police. He was released from prison in January 2011.
