DURANT—A free outdoor concert, free burgers and a ribbon cutting will be held Saturday, July 31, at the corner of University Boulevard and Westside Drive, across from Landmark Bank in Durant.

From 5:30-7:30 p.m., Senate District 6 Republican candidate Josh Brecheen, will be hosting his Durant Campaign Headquarters Opening Event with a family event for the community.

Burgers and hotdogs will be served and live music performed by Durant’s own Magnolia Sisters. The event will be capped off with a free outdoor concert presented by the I’m Third Band. KLBC–FM will be on hand with a radio remote to highlight the event. Anyone who wishes to return the state and country to its conservative, constitutional founding in this November election is invited to come out and enjoy a free, fun family event and meet Josh Brecheen as he shares his message of common-sense conservatism.

The space for the Brecheen for State Senate Durant Campaign Headquarters is being donated to Brecheen by Dr. Charles and Holli Bachmann.

“I am so grateful for the generous donation given by Durant hometown supporters to supply a headquarters location for our team,” Brecheen said, in a news release.

“This donation is yet another example of grassroots, genuine support by neighbors who recognize that our state can be better served by people who are citizen legislators, who do not find their sole identity in the office they hold. People from around the district are sacrificing to give and to help spread our message, from $5 from students, $10 from retirees, to even having ranchers give in-kind donations of live beef to provide our events with food as people hear my conviction that true representations of the people in the Oklahoma State Senate should require sacrifice of self gain for honest representation of the people – sacrificing to serve.

“Too often, liberal outside influences try to outspend conservative, constitutional ideals to force an agenda that is not reflective of Oklahoma values. I am thankful that already in this race, support is growing quickly to ensure that our hometown, common-sense beliefs are communicated clearly across our district. People know that they can trust that my conservative voice will reflect our District’s beliefs at the State Capitol.”

Brecheen, who served the district as Senator Coburn’s Field Representative over the past five years, was Coburn’s “boots on the ground” in the district, identifying and finding solutions for waste, fraud, and duplicative services to help make government lean while expanding personal opportunity for the people. He looks forward to sharing with the residents of District 6 his ideas to improve economic opportunities for families.

Brecheen, 31, is married to Kacie, and the two are expecting a baby in November.

Born and raised in Coalgate, Brecheen has worked as a field representative for U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn since 2005. He is a graduate of Oklahoma State University, where he earned a dual degree in agricultural communications and animal science.

Brecheen has operated a motivational speaking business for over a decade, providing inspirational presentations to over 100,000 people. Brecheen has also served the Oklahoma FFA Association as State President in 1998 and is a two-time qualifier for the National Cutting Horse Association Eastern Championship Show.

He operates a Quarter Horse breeding and training operation. Josh also spent summers working in a family-owned John-Deere Dealership in Atoka, Brecheen Equipment. Josh plans to focus on economic development and job creation, low taxation, and reduction of government waste if elected to the state Senate. He also wants to improve elementary education in rural Oklahoma and provide a voice for agriculture.

sweet, sweet, connie; f.y.i 20 years ago i went to war so you as well as myself can express our opinions; and yes i'm local born and raised. as for obamacare, its a sellout to big pharma and the h.m.o's. w/ no public option for the poor. as for your dentist friends; if they really want to help the community they should have a free dental day for the poor like sam nechamplin does down in denison. proud okie you need to quit drinking the hannity & limbaugh kool aid republicans have & will screw us just like dems. this 2 party system is what is wrong w/ america..wake up u idiots!

DiggityDog you obviously are not even from Durant - Charlie Bachmann is a DENTIST - not an MD - ObamaCare has nothing to do with him. We don't appreciate outsiders trying to manipulate opinion and smear neighbors that we know and respect. 275 people showing up to support Josh and they are people that everyone knows..Obama tactics are not going to work here. ACORN definitely not welcome here.

WOW- to have 275 people show up in 100 degree heat to support Brecheen at his opening is proof of the grassroots REAL support people from all walks of life are putting behind this man of outstanding character. We have been needing someone that has put his hands to hard work and will do what is right to give the PEOPLE a voice at the capitol.

To Josh and other voters, just remember when you see smearers such as DiggityDog try to confuse the facts - it is when the other side is losing on the issues they will try to belittle those that are standing up for what is right. It is obvious DiggityDog is getting desperate already in seeing the numbers of real people who are ready for true sacrificial leadership that Brecheen will deliver for the people.

Actually, that is quite an insult to contributors who have given their time and money to help Mr. Brecheen. Perhaps you should look up the reports at www.ethics.ok.gov and see who the REAL contributors are on both sides of the ticket.

he's backed by a couple of rich doctors that are terrified of universal health care for the poor...sounds like a real man for the people-the people that fill his campaign coffers.
