Caddo Community Association held their monthly meeting Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at 7 p.m., at the Caddo I.T. Museum and Library. Reports were given regarding the Annual Beans and Cornbread Benefit supper, held Saturday, April 22 at the Rock Community Building. The crowd was smaller than expected, but attendees enjoyed the good food, fellowship and the 1950s atmosphere. Proceeds from this event will be used to pay expenses for two annual CCA events to benefit senior citizens and children of Caddo.
After officer reports, final plans were made for the Annual 80s and 90s banquet, to be held Saturday, June 3, at the Caddo First Church of the Nazarene. Persons in the Caddo area will be encouraged to register any past or present Caddo area resident, of 80 years and over, by contacting a CCA member or by calling 580 367-9868. Fliers will be posted around the community and churches will be asked to spread the word. The 80s and 90s annual banquet will be a carry-in dinner, with decorations, music, and a program honoring each senior citizen present. CCA has set a new precedent, to use the same theme for all events of the current year. The 2017 theme will feature 1950s culture, music and family life.
Members were asked to come to next meeting ready to focus on producing a quality 2017 Heritage Day celebration and car show. The annual event will be held Saturday, October 14th. The official slogan is “Rock the World … Be Happy!” Coordinators are looking for vendors to register early, so the space can be used for maximum efficiency. CCA is urging new people to join the planning group and old members to renew interest, with fresh ideas and energy to devote to their favorite aspect of the event. The next CCA meeting will be Tuesday, June 6, at 7 p.m. at Caddo IT Museum.
