Piano guild auditions heard

A number of local piano students recently performed in the National Guild of Piano Playing Auditions.

The students were under the direction of Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s Dr. Robert McFadden, professor emeritus. The auditions were held at Craig Hall on the campus of Austin College.

Each student received a certificate, a gold-, silver-, or bronze-embossed pin, a report card, and a year’s membership in the National Fraternity of Student Musicians.

International winner playing a program of 15 memorized pieces was Miri Nannestad, Durant.

National winner playing a program of 10 memorized pieces was Clare Safe, Durant.

State winner playing a program of seven memorized pieces was Will Coker, Durant.

District winner playing a program of five memorized pieces was Braden Raines, Durant.

Mrs. Betty Roath, Granbury, Texas, served as adjucator.
