The Durant Kiwanis Club is again sponsoring a Pastor Appreciation Day at their regular noon meeting at the Roadhouse on Wednesday, Nov 18.
All local pastors and/or church staff are invited to attend. Kiwanis members are inviting their ministers & others to join them for lunch and a program in appreciation for their dedicated service to the community.
Featured speaker will be Mark Campbell, chairman of the Board of Double Honor Ministries.
“Our goal is to serve clergy & ministry leaders by providing a safe, refreshing, encouraging, & supportive environment,” Campbell said.
This is done primarily through recreational, personal, or group retreats and ministry events, according to Campbell. Double Honor serves those in ministry in a beautiful, natural setting on Beaver Lake in Northwest Arkansas.
A letter with access information to Double Honor will be given to each minister, stating that a donation has been made to the non-profit Double Honor Ministries in their name. Many ministers may not have a “Pastor” to consult with when faced with burnout or a family or health crisis in their life. By having a donation made in their name, ministers can be encouraged to seek out these free services as needed.
Kiwanis Club President Robert Howard said, “I can’t think of a better way our club can honor our faithful clergy than by giving them information and access to these helpful services. It is our privilege to honor our ministers with this information which could potentially save their ministry at some point in the future.”
Any minister or staff that is able to attend please contact John Breon, 924-4670, or email, email@example.com, or any Kiwanis member, to make a reservation for lunch. The buffet meal will open at 11:30 at the Roadhouse. The program will begin at 12:10 and dismiss by 1 p.m.
