The Durant Rotary Club is undergoing a leadership change as President Leta Whitaker steps down and gives the position to Three Valley Museum Curator Nancy Farris.

The switch happened at the club’s meeting held on Tuesday, Jan. 28. Whitaker has also resigned as Durant city clerk.

Whitaker has been a member of Rotary Club for 20 years and has served as president since July 2013.

She said she will begin traveling with her husband of one and a half years for his business. Whitaker revealed her first destination will be Italy in March.

“It’s going to be a new career for me. It’s very exciting,” said Whitaker.

Addressing club members at the meeting, Whitaker said that Rotary has been a large part of her life and runs deep in her family.

“It’s been a wonderful time for me,” she said.

Incoming president Nancy Farris said she will do her best to support the club and keep enthusiasm for club activities up.

Farris has been a member of the Rotary Club for two years.

“I think I can learn a lot as well as share thing I know,” said Farris.
