The Bryan County Commissioners accepted a new flag to place in front of the County Courthouse Annex building following the commissioners’ meeting Monday morning.
The flag was donated by the Woodmen of the World Chapter 558 in Durant. The fraternal insurance company often donates flags to nonprofit organizations.
Woodmen representative Kyle Savage said the group takes a lot of pride in seeing flags flown properly and is more than willing to put up new flags for organizations that need them replaced.
During the meeting, commissioners agreed to reduce the speed limit on one county road that residents have said is the site of speeding and property damage.
One resident living on Posey Lane said she has witnessed mailboxes and posts being knocked down by reckless drivers and it makes her nervous with her grandchildren living on the road.
The resident presented speed limit signs she had made for a speed reduction to save the county money.
The speed limit for Posey Lane on the border of Calera and Durant has been reduced to 15 miles per hour.
Commissioners continued planning for an upcoming county auction to be held Saturday February 15. They agreed to a Special meeting on Thursday February 13 to note any county entities that have not entered items in the auction and would like to.
