Bryan County United way experienced a successful inaugural 5K run Saturday, March 8. More than 150 runners participated, from 4 years old to 68 years old.
The overall first-place female winner was Wendi Driver and overall first-place male runner was Jose Dela Cruz.
“Our local military recruiter lead the race off in a Humvee,” said Bryan County United Way Director Pam Robinson. “We had lots of great volunteers helping make this first run go smoothly. Even the rain held off.
“The theme of our run was to bring awareness to our community about the children who suffer from hunger here in our county everyday. A big thank you goes out to our sponsors, thank you for the support. Thank you to the Coalition For Hunger group who handed out information about this very important issue.”
