Attention all cooks, young and old. Do you often brag or someone else brags that you make the best cookies or salsa. Would you like to claim real bragging rights for the best cookie or salsa in the county? If so, we have the contest for you. The Bryan Co. Home & Community Education (O.H.C.E.) will be sponsoring a County Cookie Contest and a Super Salsa Contest on Saturday, September 6th, located at the Clay Jones Community Center during the county fair.
The County Cookie Contest competition will begin at 11 a.m. to noon with all cookie entries checked in at 10:30 am. Participants will need to bring at least a dozen cookies in a disposal container.
The Super Salsa Contest competition will be held 2-3 p.m. with salsa entries checked in at 1:30 pm. Only fresh salsa allowed. Canned salsa will not be accepted.
This is a fun competition for everyone where fair participants sample each entry and select their top choice. The votes will then be tallied and the item with the most votes will be awarded with a 1st place plaque in each contest. The second and third places winners will receive a ribbon.
To learn more about these special competitions, pick up a copy of the county fairbook available at the Bryan County OSU Extension Office or contact their office at 924-5312. We hope to see you at the 2014 Bryan County Free Fair, September 3-6, held the first week in September. A county event for the whole family to enjoy. The Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service offers its program to all eligible persons regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age, disability, or status as a veteran and is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
