The Durant Fire Department was one of several Texoma-area fire departments that provided mutual aid for a fire that destroyed a furniture store in Sherman, Texas.
The Furniture Barn in downtown Sherman caught fire late Thursday afternoon, and at 5:55 that evening, the Durant Fire Department sent one unit to help fight the fire, according to a DFD report.
They arrived at 6:36 and spent approximately two and a half hours helping to put out the fire before leaving shortly after 9 p.m.
Sherman fire officials told KTEN Television that the cause of the fire is under investigation, but it is not believed to be of a suspicious origin. The loss is estimated to be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
