The Durant Main Street Program is raising awareness and donations for Alzheimer’s Disease with help from the king of rock and roll.Durant Main Street and the Sterling House have partnered to bring “Elvis” to Durant this week.A cardboard version of The King will be traveling throughout the Main Street stores this week encouraging citizens to shop locally and make donations for Alzheimer’s research at the Durant Main Street office.Citizens can stop by any three Main Street stores to pick up an Elvis punch card and have it punched. An extra punch is awarded if Elvis is in the store at the time.These cards enter the cardholder in a raffle for an Elvis Package Giveaway at the end of the week.

 

Authorities search for man in Cartwright

A manhunt began in the Cartwright area early Wednesday evening when a man driving a pickup hit a Denison, Texas, police officer with the truck and then led him on a chase.The suspect bailed out on foot in Cartwright and officers from several agencies searched for him throughout the evening.
