Durant City Council held a special meeting Tuesday deciding on several city issues including one major city project.
In the matter of a new water tower to be placed near Southeastern Oklahoma State University campus, the city accepted an easement from N. 7th Avenue to N. 4th Avenue on Chuckwa Street and Montgomery Drive.
The city also approved grant documents to move forward with the project. This tower is expected to improve city water pressure and provide a more stable water supply to the college and surrounding area.
Also approved Tuesday, was an exchange between the city and local family for airspace. The city agreed to extend a roadway easement on Cessna Street allowing one local family a second access point to their property.
In exchange the family agreed to allow the airport use of the airspace at the South end of the airport runway.
Council also approved accepting a bid of sale for the Wheeler Federal Building in the amount of $100,000.
