The Bryan County Commissioners appointed a new member to the West Bryan County Board of Directors during a meeting Monday morning.
Commissioner Monty Montgomery said that since the majority of the board recently handed in resignations, the board did not have enough members to appoint a new member, leaving this duty to the Commissioners.
Commissioners appointed Jake Nichols as the third member of the board. This decision was made due to Nichols being the only person to volunteer for the position.
It also fell on the commissioners to appoint a temporary chair for the board until a meeting of the board can be held to decide its organization.
The most senior serving board member, Melissa Cathy, was chosen as temporary Chair. Commissioners also thanked Cathy for her continued service to the department.
Commissioners took action to advertise for bids concerning a new security system for the Bryan County Courthouse.
The new system will utilize digital cameras to replace the analog cameras currently in use and will work with the recently purchased computer belonging to the courthouse.
The current offer for such a system is priced at $29,497. Commissioners agreed to advertise for bids. Bids will be opened during the commissioners meeting on April 21.
