A California man was pronounced dead at the Medical Center of Southeast Oklahoma in Durant after an accident around 5 p.m. Saturday one mile north of Caddo on U.S. Highway 69.
William C. Welcome, 67, apparently died of a preexisting medical condition, according to a highway patrol report.
Welcome’s vehicle veered left through the center median and across the southbound lane, finally going through a fence and striking a tree. He was transported to MCSO by Atoka Emergency Medical Service.
Welcome’s brother, 53-year-old David Welcome, also was in the vehicle but was not injured in the crash.
