The US Department of Transportation estimates 91% of the public will travel by vehicle during this holiday season. Oklahoma Highway Patrol is gearing up for the upcoming holiday season and will have all available troopers working to ensure safe travel.

As always the troopers that are on duty will be focusing on any reckless driving that may be a result of speeding, unsafe lane changes or driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

We recommend drivers devote full attention to their driving by not texting and using a hands-free device if needed. Everyone is encouraged to buckle up. Make sure your automobile is road ready and equipped with supplies in case of an emergency. It appears at this time the weather may be a factor, before starting toward your destination check and see what the road conditions are and have an alternate plan and route.

If you need to report anything you can dial *55 for the Highway Patrol or if it’s an emergency dial 911 from any mobile phone. Drive safely and enjoy the holidays.
