“For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.” — Matthew 12:37

Words have a lifelong meaning don’t they? Have you ever said something to someone and wished you had never said that? Words cannot be forgotten, as Christians what we say tells a whole lot more about us than the way we act. The Bible tells us that we are snared by the words of our mouth and from the abundance of the heart the mouth will speak. By our words people will know who we live for.

Have you ever seen people who profess to go to church but will tell the most horrible jokes and expect people to enjoy what they say, or people who profess to be Christians will take the name of God in vain? The Bible tells us that sweet water and bitter water does not come from the same fountain. A person cannot be a true Christian and take the name of God in vain. Jesus wants our speech to be pure and holy.

We can be justified by our words, or, in other words they can divulge the true nature of the heart. We as Christians are to set the example for those around us and if we are more like the world than we are like Jesus who do you think they will follow? Let our words be a reflection of our heart and let our heart be a reflection of our words. Use your words kindly for they will always represent what you stand for.
