“And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom: for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the Lord commanded Moses.” — Deuteronomy 34:9
This chapter speaks about the death of Moses, the leader of the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt. The Bible says that Moses died and was buried by God, and God had chosen a successor whose name was Joshua. The Bible tells us that Joshua followed the voice of God and did as he was commanded. God gave Joshua a commandment to lead the children of Israel, but to do this, Joshua needed wisdom.
Here we find that Joshua had the spirit of wisdom because the man of God had laid his hand upon him. God wants us to be full of the spirit of wisdom, to know what is godly and what is not. We as Christians have the hand of God upon our lives and He wants us to be wise and to know what the voice of God sounds like.
The Bible says that the voice of God sometimes sounds like thunder, sometimes it sounds like an earthquake or lightening, but sometimes it sounds like a still small voice. Just as Joshua heard the voice of God and followed His leading, we know the voice of our heavenly Father. That voice will lead and guide us and give us the spirit of wisdom to make sound, Godly choices in our lives.
Today more than ever, we need to be searching and praying for the spirit of wisdom to live inside of us so we can discern between right and wrong. Not everything that seems like it is of God is actually of God. The devil has a fake for everything that is genuine, and if we are not rooted and grounded and wise, he will trick us into believing what he offers is real.
The only real and genuine comes from God above. Don’t let the devil trick you and trip you. Ask God for His wisdom and discernment. For with the word of God, we will defeat the enemy of our soul and come out a winner.
