BLUE — The Rock Creek Lady Mustangs took a 7-0 victory over the Valliant Lady Bulldogs in fast-pitch softball action Tuesday afternoon, just after Valliant bested the Caddo Lady Bruins 9-1.

Rock Creek 7, Valliant 0

The Lady Mustangs mounted a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Lead-off Arie Young drew a walk. After stealing second and advancing to third on an Ashlynn Robinson single, Young scored.

Then, Macy Eiler got one through to left field for an RBI single and took an extra base on the throw home. That set up designated hitter Danielle Hayden for an RBI double to center. Hayden was able to get down across the plate on a passed ball.

Rock Creek tacked on another run in the bottom of the third. Eiler hit a double over the left fielder, and her courtesy runner scored when Hayden reached on an infield error.

Two additional scores in the bottom of the fourth sealed the deal. With bases loaded, Karrie Blackburn and Riley Angello got the easy RBIs with some patience at the plate.

Ashlynn Robinson was the winning pitcher for the Lady Mustangs.

And the Lady Bulldogs were slow to figure out they shouldn’t hit to Kylie Rice at third base. She fielded and threw for three consecutive outs in the top of the third.

Valliant 9, Caddo 1

It was an off day for the Lady Bruins, as fans noted the team has been playing better than they showed Tuesday.

Valliant opened the game with a triple over the center fielder’s head. Following several walks and a pair of doubles, the Lady Bulldogs held a 3-0 lead.

Caddo went three-and-out through the first four innings. Jessie Price hit a single in the bottom of the second, but she got caught in a double play on the next batter to end the inning.

The Lady Bruins’ lone run came in the bottom of the fifth. Katie Harris, who also pitched for Caddo, got the frame started by reaching on an error. Her courtesy runner, Juana Fain, stole second. Fain went to third on a ground out by Price. After the first baseman’s throw in an attempt to turn two went through the third baseman’s legs, Fain rounded the base and crossed the plate.

The round-robin league play at Blue will continue Thursday and Friday, weather permitting. Thursday’s schedule includes host Rock Creek, Tushka, Calera, Valliant and Rattan. Colbert also is on the list, but didn’t make it Tuesday when slated to play. Friday will bring back Caddo, Bennington, Calera, Tushka and Rattan.
