Appreciation of Community Support

As President of the Friends of the Donald W. Reynolds Community Center and Library (FOL), I want to express the club’s appreciation to our supporters who helped us make the annual book sale such a huge success. Funds raised by FOL are used to support the extra needs of the library which are not covered in the regular library budget.

All supporters of our library are deeply valued, as we continue to raise funds for the FOL group. Our FOL group worked hard to organize the donated books in an attractive, orderly manner for the shopping convenience of patrons and visitors. The book donations that we received from the community came in high numbers this year. This kind of generosity from the community helps in our efforts to support the library.

We would like to remind the community that most of the books on sale were donated; some people wait until just before the sale to donate books, but their books for donation can come in any time before or after the sale. There is a shelf in a well-marked area in the main library for books for sale which can be purchased any time the library is visited. We are always in need of more children’s books, so please share the books that your children or grandchildren have outgrown.

The FOL has been able to help support three new Gale database additions to the library Chiltons, Legal Forms, and Price It! Antiques and Collectibles. Whenever you visit our library and notice the attractive bronze statues at each entrance of the library and enjoy the beautiful art hanging on the walls, particularly the art in the children’s area, remember that the majority of the money earned by FOL to purchase this art came from our annual book sale. We are in the process of adding more art work to the main entrance area of the library. We also contribute to the summer reading programs.

FOL also serves the library in many other ways. If you would be interested in becoming a member of the FOL group, applications may be picked up at the circulation desk or call me at 580-924-3486. I am always eager to recruit a new friend for the library.

The next opportunity to participate in a FOL fundraiser is November 29, 30, and December 1. This fundraiser will include crafts and a drawing to win a quit donated by the library summer quilting class.
