Chester Pittman a resident of Bennington, Oklahoma passed away in Ft. Smith, Arkansas on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at the age of 87 years 2 months and 2 days. He was born in Bennington, Oklahoma to Oscar Fitz and Mattie Martha (Pistubbee) Pittman on Tuesday, November 13, 1925.

Chester was a carpenter by trade. He served his country in the United States Navy four years and was a member of the “greatest generation”. He was a member of the Sulphur Springs Church. Chester was proud of his Choctaw heritage and being a veteran. He loved to listen to music. But most of all he loved to spend time with his family telling stories.

Mr. Pittman is survived by his daughters, Ada Faye Pittman of Bennington, Oklahoma and Anita Kaye Crawford of Denison, Texas; grandchildren, Nathan Tripp of Hawaii, Julian Pittman of Pottsboro, Texas; Joshua Hamill of Durant, Oklahoma, Benjamin Bacon of Chickasha, Oklahoma, Twahna Hamill of Durant, Oklahoma, Jim Wade Pittman of Silo, Oklahoma and Nicole Pittman of Boswell, Oklahoma; step-grandson, Eric Roberts of Boswell, Oklahoma; sister, Lorene St John of Piedmont, Oklahoma; many great grandchildern; numerous nieces nephews and a host of friends.

Mr. Pittman was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Mattie Pittman; wives, Vivian Juanita Pittman and Maude Pittman; son, Guy Preston Pittman; grandson, Roger Preston Hamill; 2 brothers, Dallas James and Arthur Lee Pittman; 2 sisters, Pauline Whitworth and Irene Fox.

Family Hour will be from 7-8:00 PM on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A Funeral Service in his honor will be held on Monday, January 21, 2013 ,2:00 P.M.,at the Bennington Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Ball officiating. Interment will follow at the Bennington Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be David Pittman, Julian Pittman, Josh Hamill, Dean Crawford, Ben Bacon and Jim Wade Pittman. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ronnie Harrison and Steven Pittman.
