A special meeting of the Durant City Council was held at 3 p.m. Friday Dec. 21 to discuss the placement of a new CVS pharmacy in Durant.

Council approved the re-plat of lost 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and the west 25 feet of lot 9 in block 166. These lots will become CVS Durant Addition Lot 1, block one.

This location will house a new CVS Pharmacy in Durant. Vice President of Winklemann & Associates, owner of CVS, Micheal Doggett was present to represent CVS Pharmacies.

Doggett said that if all goes according to plan the construction on the store should start in late February or early march.

Council also approved closing the alley in block 166 and notifying all utility companies so there would be no future issues between the utilities and CVS.

Utility companies will be notified and given the opportunity to debate the alley closing however the council does not foresee any issues arising.
