COLBERT - It was a wild game between the Colbert Leopards and the Marietta Indains on Colbert’s Homecoming Night. There were 10 lead changes in the game, and in the fourth quarter the game was tied at 29 apiece. However, Marietta would finish the quarter with a 17-11 run that put the game away as the Leopards lost 47-40.

Preston Rice led Colbert in scoring with 13 points, Charles Adams chipped in 13 points, Caleb Shoemake had 6 points, Payton Whitehead and Kason Krob both had 3 points apiece and James Hair had 2 points.

Colbert took a 12-9 lead after the first quarter. Shoemake and Rice both hit 3-pointers and Rice also made both of his free throws, while Adams and Hair both had buckets. Marietta try to keep pace with three 3-pointers.

Five of the 10 lead changes happened in the second period. Both teams battled back and forth throughout the quarter. With the scored tied at 20 apiece with 1:24 left in the half, Marietta would go on a mini-run of 6-1 run to take a 26-21 led into the locker room.

The game still hung in the balance in the third period. Colbert came roaring back and outscored the Indians 8-2 and took a 29-28 lead into the fourth quarter. Adams and Rice would both hit 3-pointers that helped to bring Colbert back.

But then the game got away from Colbert in the fourth period and they lost a close game to Marietta on Friday night. Colbert hosts Kiowa on Tuesday.
