A member of the Bryan County Drug Court was arrested at the courthouse after drugs were found in her purse, according to the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Vinny Cacace was asked Wednesday afternoon to go to the drug court office, located on the first floor of the courthouse, about a non-compliant member of the drug court.

Cacace asked the woman, identified as Billie Jo Marie Caldwell, 26, why she was not compliant, and according to the affidavit, Caldwell said she would fail a drug test because she had recently used methamphetamine. She had a bottle of urine in her purse she said she obtained from a neighbor’s child that she planned to sneak in the urine cup so she would pass the test.

Cacace was requested by the drug court coordinator to search Caldwell, so he called Confinement Officer Tracy Isenberg to search her clothing for drugs or weapons. None were found.

Cacace then began to search her purse and according to the affidavit, a straw and a plastic baggie were found that had a powder residue associated with methamphetamine. He also found another plastic bag that contained numerous plastic baggies.

When asked what she used the baggies for, she said she used them to deliver drugs, according to the affidavit, and she also confirmed that methamphetamine was in the plastic straw. Cacace also found some prescription pills she was not authorized to have.

Caldwell was booked into jail where she was subsequently searched by a female confinement officer who found a smoking pipe and a baggie containing a powder residue that were in her undergarments, the affidavit states.

A testing kit revealed the substances tested positive for methamphetamine, according to the affidavit.

According to court records, Caldwell has seven prior charges related to drug possession and most recently, was charged with possession of methamphetamine.

Charges in the most recent incident are pending completion of the investigation and a review of the report by the District Attorney’s Office.

In other, unrelated drug cases, Chrisanda Renee Pogue, 35, Denison, and Charles Eric Miller, 39, Durant, has been charged with manufacturing methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine. These charges were filed after a review of a probable-cause affidavit by Durant Master Police Officer Richard Ezell.

The affidavit states that Ezell and District Attorney Investigator David Cathey went to a residence last month in the 2000 block of West Mississippi Street to serve arrest warrants. Miller and Pogue were arrested at the home and one of the residents gave permission to look for a third person who had felony warrants.

In plain view, officers saw a plastic bottle that contained a milky colored liquid and a powdery substance, according to the affidavit, and the bottle appeared to be a “one pot” container for making methamphetamine.

Ezell then obtained a search warrant and during a search, officers found methamphetamine and chemical and equipment associated with the manufacture of methamphetamine.
