The regular meeting of the Durant Industrial Authority was held on Tuesday. The meeting focused on projects underway in Durant.
More negotiations are needed before the placement of a 16-inch natural gas pipeline in Durant’s West Industrial Park.
A new route for the pipeline was proposed to the authority. This route would mean approximately an extra 75 feet would fall within the right of way easement.
This extra area could have roads placed on it; however no buildings could be placed on it. The authority has decided to review all options and try to find a more acceptable route for the pipeline to be placed.
The placement of Pharmcare in Durant is expected to provide approximately 54 jobs for Durant. The pharmacy must offer jobs to low-income residents.
Due to the job creation of the business, the city will be applying for a grant to rebuild and widen potions of Waldron Drive in Durant.
