The Durant ISD Board of Education held its regular meeting Monday evening. During the meeting administrators and board members discussed the grades each school received from the Oklahoma State Board of Education.

A grading system adopted by the Oklahoma Legislature in 2011 showed its first results recently which were reviewed in the meeting.

With the A-F School Report Cards, schools are graded on various aspects such as student growth, achievement and dropout rates. The various aspects are graded to form an overall grade for each school.

All six schools in the district received passing scores. The lowest scored in the district was Robert E Lee Elementary with a C (2.50) only 0.25 points away from a B grade.

Both Northwest Heights Elementary and Washington Irving Elementary schools received a 3.50 score. Durant Intermediate School received a 2.82 score.

Durant High School received a 3.17 and Durant Middle School received the highest in the district with a score of 3.66.

Grading is as follows: 3.75 – 4.00 (A), 2.72 - 3.74 (B), 1.75 – 2.74 (C), 0.75-1.74 (D), and below 0.75 (F).

“We are very pleased with what our teachers do and what our students do, but we are not finished,” said Durant ISD Superintendent Dr. Jason Simeroth.
