Jerry Don Gilbert of Durant, Oklahoma passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at the age of 66 years 7 months and 26 days. He was born in Kemp, Texas on Thursday, February 7, 1946 to L.N. and Velma Dean (Norris) Gilbert. Jerry married Betty Sue Phillips in Bonham, Texas on Monday, May 27, 1963.

Jerry enjoyed everyone that came into his life and he was especially devoted to his family. He had a lifelong love of roosters. Jerry also loved his dog Magic, music and sports.

Mr. Gilbert is survived by his wife, Betty Sue Gilbert of the home; daughter, Lisa Ann Gilbert of Durant, Oklahoma; sons, Richard Don Gilbert and wife Brandy of Durant, Oklahoma and Marty Winston Gilbert of Stillwater, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Misty and Blue of Callisburg, Texas, Rashelle and Aron of Coleman, Oklahoma, Ashley and Erol of Durant, Oklahoma, Charity of Durant, Oklahoma, Jerett and Julie of Durant, Oklahoma, Trevor, Bailey and Parker Gilbert of Stillwater, Oklahoma; Justin, Travis and Kaitlyn of Durant, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren,Desarea, Amber, Colby, Jarrett, Sawyer, Myka, MaKennah and Journey; sisters, Myrtle and Bob Linx, Sharon and Jimmie Grimes, Brenda and David Vandenberg, Wanda and Charles Woodard, Donna and Rickie Vandenberg, Barbara Hale, Jan and Don Malone; brothers, Homer and Betty Gilbert and Ed and Lillie Gilbert; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents, L.N. and Velma Gilbert; siblings, Audrey Gilbert, Kenneth Gilbert and Normae Shastid.

Family Hour will be Wednesday, October 3, 2012 7-8:00 P.M. at the Holmes Coffey Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. Funeral

Services will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday, October 4, 2012, at the Wade Baptist Church in Wade, Oklahoma with Rev. Charles Williams officiating. Interment will follow at the Bokchito Cemetery in Bokchito. Serving as pallbearers will be Aron Gilbert, Jerett Gilbert, Blue Owens, Arial Ishmal and Jerry Duke. Honorary pallbearers will be Justin Nichols, Travis Nichols, Gary Don Delozier and Benny Smith.
