Joe Phillip “Little Joe” Lynn a long time resident of Durant, Oklahoma passed away at the Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at the age of 94 years 7 months and 21 days. He was born in Oakland, Oklahoma on Thursday, May 30, 1918 to Charles A. and Verda (Dillingham) Lynn.

When Joe was 5 years old his family moved from Oakland to Durant. Joe married Lila Lee Hill in Durant, Oklahoma on Monday, August 14, 1940.

Joe graduated from Durant High School where he enjoyed participating and lettering in various sports; especially, wrestling, football and baseball.

After he graduated, Joe married Lila Hill. In the early years of marriage Joe and Lila traveled while Joe worked for an oil drilling company but settled in Durant as their daughters approached school age. He then worked for L.J. Gregg Motor Company, Ed Cason Motors, Buddy Spencer Ford, Jim Tyler Ford and Wheeler-Sullivan Ford Tractors. Joe also drove cars for the Ford Dealerships. He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior in 1961 and was a member of The Church of Christ. Joe never met a stranger. He loved fishing, camping and all sports. But most of all Joe loved and cherished his family and friends. If you knew Joe then you loved him too!

Mr. Lynn is survived by his daughters, Nancy Gibson and husband Charles of Harrah, Oklahoma and Sandra Dewey and husband John of Denison, Texas; grandsons, Chris Gibson and wife Nariba of Grand Terrace, California and Jason Gibson of Harrah, Oklahoma; great-grandsons, Cayden Lynn Gibson and Cole Landon Gibson; sister-in-Laws, Shirley Roy Benton and LaWanda Lynn; brother-in-laws, Eddie Claborn and Walter Elliott and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Lynn was preceded in death by his wife, Lila Lee on May 27, 1987; parents, Charles and Verda Lynn; sister, Karleen Colbert; brother, Harold; nephew, Phil Colbert.

A Funeral Service in his honor will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, January 25, 2013 at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Chapel in Durant, Oklahoma with Bro. Jerry Fisher officiating. Interment will follow at the Highland Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jack Wayne Blount, Joe Clause, Charles Cormier, Milton Rider and Thomas Phipps.
