Journey Stories at the Three Valley Museum is coming to a close. Next week will be the last week to catch a journey story this year.

There is still one Journey Story left for this week as well. This week featured Bryan Hallmark speaking on Ira Eaker and Durant Regional Airport – Eaker Field on Tuesday.

Hallmark described step by step how the airport came to be, how it developed and why it was named after Ira Eaker.

He also explained how Eaker, pronounced ay-ker, made himself into a pioneer of aviation and the roles he played in Durant.

Today’s speaker will be local auctioneer John Teel speaking on his life experiences in Blue. Teel said not even he knows exactly what he will talk about during his presentation.

Museum Curator Nancy Ferris said Teel’s presentation is one not to be missed.

Next week’s presentations will include a presentation on the Chickasaw tribe and Farrel Hatch speaking on weddings in Durant and why people in the 1950’s and 60’s considered Durant a wedding destination.
