Leta Mae McGee was born Artieth Leta Mae Knight to Joel Larkin Knight and Rebecca Ann (Pruitt) Knight on Tuesday, June 28, 1934 and passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at the age of 78 years 5 months and 18 days at her home in Calera, Oklahoma with her family by her side.

Leta married Bobby Joe (Buck) McGee on February 21, 1952 in Phoenix, Arizona and raised six children as a result of that union.

She retired from Levi Strauss and Co. and then pursued a career in LPN nursing where she worked for Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas for many years. She is remembered as an excellent nurse and care giver, and continues to be admired by many who worked with her on 4-West during her tenure there.

Leta was a member of the Assembly of God faith and was God’s representation of the Virtuous woman of Proverbs 31. She will be missed by all who came to know her personally as well as professionally.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother; brothers, Willie Knight, Monroe Knight, Arvule Knight, and Paul Knight; sisters, Leona Florence, Dorothy Pryor,and Lorene Blaylock; and great grand-daughter, Alyssa Dawn Oswald.

She is survived by her husband of the home; children Glenna Shepherd and husband James of Tonkawa, Oklahoma, Robert D. McGee of Galveston, Texas, Gerald McGee of Pilot Point, Texas, Michael D. McGee and wife Roberta of Canadian, Oklahoma, Karen Billy and husband John of Durant, Oklahoma, and Joe McGee and wife Gloria of Armstrong, Oklahoma. Grandchildren, Tammy Seidel and husband Carl, Alesha Roberts, Brent Williamson and wife Michaele, Lisa Covington and husband Scott, Tara Champion and husband Francis, Ashley, Justin, Sonja, and Jaxton McGee, C.W., Raymond and wife Katherine, and Missy Faull, Bobby McGee and wife Kristin, Brandi Hutchins and husband Wade, Ryan Carroll and wife April, and Rachel Cochran and husband Aaron. In addition, she is survived by 30 great grand-children, 6 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family Night will be held from 7-8:00 PM on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at the Holmes Coffey Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at the Holmes~Coffey~ Murray Chapel with Bro David Ervin officiating. Interment will follow at the Gethsemane Cemetery in Caddo, Oklahoma. Pallbearers will be Ryan Carroll, Brent Williamson, Bobby McGee, Travis Carroll, Raymond Faull and Wade Hutchins.
