The Durant Lions (1-8) will play its final game of the regular season on the road tonight against the Tulsa Hale Rangers (2-7). This will be the 13th meeting between the teams and the Rangers led the series 8-4.

Not only do we say good bye to the football season, but to the seniors who will play their last game in a Durant Lions uniform.

“They are some really good guys, about 16 seniors. It’s funny - you watch them grow up from when they’re freshman and I hate to see them go, because I spent a lot of time with them over the past four years.” said Lions head coach Bryon Cordell, “We are going to miss them.”

The Rangers are coming off a loss to Shawnee 39-6. While the Lions suffered a loss against Noble Bears 30-12. This is a chance for the Lions to end the season on a high note.

However, coach Cordell has his reservations about the Rangers, they can be a formidable foe when they can get the ball to their skill players.

“They got some athletics and they’re a good team. Their record is deceiving because they have play some hard teams. They held Shawnee scoreless at half time.” said Cordell, “They got speed and that makes them tough.”

The Lions will try to counter the Rangers with Zac Cater’s passing game and the a running game led Dakota Diessner. And the Lions defense will have to be sharp to stop the Rangers speed demons.

Cordell says that the Lions have had a good week of practice and taking a good attitude in this Friday’s game.

“We are all disappointed that we won’t be able to play week eleven, but we are going to get out there and get after them.” said Cordell, “I told the guys that we are going to treat this game like it’s week one. We except to win and we are going to work, there’s not any hanging our head or anything else. We are going battle and get a win.”
