Man pleads guilty of failing to register as a sex offender

MUSKOGEE -A Durant man has pleaded guilty to a federal charge of failure to register as a sex offender, the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma said Tuesday.

Kenneth Allen Jones, 31, was indicted in January following an investigation by the U.S. Marshal Service.
The indictment stated that between February 2011 and January of this year, Jones did not comply with the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.
Jones was convicted of criminal sexual conduct, second degree (person under 13), in 2006 in Michigan, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
The Honorable Steven P. Shreder, Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Muskogee, accepted the guilty plea and ordered the completion of a presentence report.
Sentencing will be scheduled following its completion.
The statutory range of punishment is not more than 10 years imprisonment, followed by a term of up to Life on supervised release and/or up to a $250,000.00 fine. The defendant remains in the custody of the United States Marshal Service.
