RC “Monk” Carr, 88, of Durant passed away Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, in the home surrounded by his family.

Services will be at 2 PM, Tuesday at Utica Baptist Church with Rev. Kelly Haworth officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery under direction of Brown’s Funeral Service in Durant. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6-8 PM.

Monk Carr was born February 5, 1925, in Wolf Creek, OK, the son of Rector and Lola Barr Carr. He attended Wolf Creek and Utica Schools.

He married Myrtle Faye Youree, January 2, 1943. He and Myrt lived in the Utica area all of their lives where they were beloved members of the Utica Baptist Church. He was an active member of the community, enjoyed deer hunting and loved farming peanuts.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, parents; brothers, Oad and Rooster Carr; sisters, Dot Finley and Elsie Rowland. Survivors include daughter, Carolyn Anderson and husband Bob of Durant; son, Mark Carr and wife Debbie of Comanche, OK; grandsons, Chris Haworth and his wife Dee Ann of Utica, Ok.; Kelly Haworth and his wife Tammie of Blanchard, OK; Nick Carr and his wife Amanda of Carter, OK; great grandsons, Tyler and Derrick Haworth of Utica, Ok., and Nate, Scott, and Zack Carr of Carter, Ok., Asa and Titus Haworth of Blanchard; great granddaughters Ashlee Carr of Carter, and Lydia Grace Haworth of Blanchard and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. In Myrt’s words, “They loved them special.”

Pallbearers will be his nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be his deer hunting buddies.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Utica Baptist Church.
