Before polls were tallied last night both, candidates for state representative, Jerry Tomlinson and Dustin Roberts admitted to being quite nervous.
Both said they felt good about the campaigns that were run and would only like to have reached more people.
Roberts, a Republican won the election with 63.97 percent of the votes, according to the Bryan County Election Board. There were 7,307 people who voted for Roberts while 4,115 voted for Tomlinson, a Democrat.
At 9 p.m. Tomlinson called Roberts to congratulate him on his win. During the call Roberts made a promise to Tomlinson to continue to fight for the best interests of Bryan County.
“I am ready to go back to work,” said Roberts. He said he now challenges every candidate in the county, no matter what office they ran for, to see who can get their election signs gathered the quickest.
He said now that the election is over, it is time to clean up the county. He plans to have all of his signs up by the end of the week.
