McALESTER – Cameron Collier and Tracy Brown teamed up for 59 points in Boswell’s 79-64 area-round playoff win over Moss on Thursday.

Collier scored 30 on 11-for-19 shooting from the floor and 8-of-9 free throws. Brown had his best showing of the season with a monstrous double-double on 29 points and 16 rebounds.

Both stepped up to fill the shoes of Scorpion senior Markell Henderson, who left the game just before halftime with a sprained ankle after scoring 11 points and grabbing nine boards.

Henderson returned to the bench in the second half but did not play. “He says he is playing tomorrow,” said Boswell Coach Parker Harless.

“But you’ve got to have other weapons,” he continued. “If you don’t at this level, you can’t advance. (Collier and Brown) were crucial and we didn’t lose our heads in the second half.”

Three-pointers from Henderson and Cameron Roberts helped the Scorpions build a double-digit lead early in the second quarter. They led 38-24 at halftime and were able to maintain distance in the second half while adjusting to Henderson’s absence.

Collier filled the game with solid inside play, pushing the lead to 20 in the fourth quarter. Tracy Brown had back-to-back layups to help eliminate the Pirates from the playoff picture.

The Scorpions advance to the area round semifinal against Achille at 3 p.m. today at the Southeast Expo Center in McAlester. Boswell defeated the Eagles 90-55 back on Feb. 1, their only meeting of the 2012-13 season.
