CABOT, Ark. – Southeastern’s varsity squad fired a final round 299 and bested the field by 10 strokes on the day to storm back from fifth place and earn its first tournament victory of the season on Tuesday afternoon at the Bison Fall Golf Classic in Cabot, Ark.

The squad improved on their own first round score by 10 strokes and went from trailing by six strokes to a seven stroke victory over Southern Nazarene who had led after the first round.

The Savage Storm’s B team also fared well, but dropped from second place into fourth after a second round total of 325 that put them at 629 for the event, 21 strokes behind the varsity squads winning tally of 608.

The top team was paced by Greydon Blevins who finished second among individuals with back-to-back rounds of 74 and a tournament total of 148, just one shot behind event winner Lucas Collins from Harding who fired a second round 70 and posted a 147.

Jay Ray also posted a significant improvement over the two rounds, following a first round 80 with a second round 75 to also post a 155 and finish tied for ninth.

The Storm nearly placed all five members in the top 10, with Matt McIntosh carding rounds of 79 and 78 to finish with a 157 in a tie for 16th.

The B team was led by Rick Hairgrove who fired a 78 on Tuesday to finish with a 153 in a tie for sixth.

Joey Schroeder posted a tied for 12th finish after a 79 gave him a two-day total of 156.

Jackson Stuteville and Seth Wheeler each tallied 84’s on Tuesday, with Stuteville finishing tied for 23rd with a 162 and Wheeler posting a 164 and tying for 28th.

Carson Daniel had the roughest day on the course, firing a 91 on the second day to follow up his first-round 74 and finish with a 165 in a tie for 31st.

The Storm bested fellow Great American Conference schools, SNU who finished second, Harding who finished third, Southern Arkansas who was seventh and Ouachita Baptist who was eighth.

SE will be back on the course Oct. 22-23 for the Bruce Williams Memorial in San Antonio, Texas.
