The Savage Storm baseball team took a pair of wins over Tarleton State on Tuesday with scores of 6-2 and 6-3.

In the first game, Five Storm players collected RBIs on an 11-hit afternoon. Ryan Salter had two RBIs in the game. David Cagle got the win on the mound with six Ks, two walks and four hits in four-plus innings of work.

Cameron Mann picked up saves in both games.

In the second game, Southeastern fell behind 3-0 before a fifth inning rally which was capped by a grand slam home run for Evan Ramsey of Denison, Texas. He picked up his third four-RBI game of the season. Pitcher Eddie Cervantes (3-0) swooped in for the win in relief of starter Canyon Conley.

“Our hitting was better today than what we did over the weekend,” said Coach Mike Metheny about the Savage Storm offense, which came into the game with a conference-worst .221 batting average. “Anytime you can win two, it’s a good day.

“We got good pitching from David Cagle, and Eddie (Cervantes) probably could have finished but we know Cameron Mann is the one we want with the ball to end games.”

Coming into Tuesday’s games, Southeastern had the third-best earned run average in the Great American Conference at 3.41.

Southeastern (7-6) has now won three straight and they will host the Harding Bison for a three-game conference set starting at noon this Saturday.
