Friday game:

DURANT, Okla. – Evan Ramsey drove in four runs, including a pinch-hit three run homer in the sixth inning to help Southeastern to a 5-4 win over Henderson State on Friday afternoon at The Ballpark in Durant.

The win gets the Savage Storm off to a 1-0 start in Great American Conference play and lifts them to 3-2 overall on the season.

SE found itself down midway through the sixth inning after the Reddies’ eight-hole hitter posted a pair of solo homers in the third and the top of the sixth innings.

Then with two outs and two runners on Ramsey stepped in to pinch-hit, putting a ball over the left-field wall to erase the deficit and turn it into a 3-2 lead.

Ramsey would add another RBI in the bottom of the eighth inning with a single to left center that plated Ryan Salter and put SE up 4-2.

HSU, however, would answer in the top of the ninth with a pair of runs off a double by Dustin Hudson.

The Storm would open the bottom of the ninth inning with back-to-back groundouts before Josh Smith drew a walk.

That was followed by a Chevis Springer walk, with Robby Nunez then stepping in to run for Smith at second base.

A third-straight walk by Salter would load the bases for Tucker Alexander who would roll a ball to shortstop who would then throw to first off the mark, allowing Nunez to score on the error for the walkoff win.

Ramsey finished the day 2-for-2 after entering in the sixth inning with four RBI, while Springer turned in a two-hit outing at 2-for-3 with two walks and a run scored.

Salter and Troy McCartney each added a hit, with Salter turning in a run and a pair of stolen bases.

Saturday Games:

The Savage Storm dropped a pair of games to the Reddies on Saturday by scores of 2-0 and 9-4.

Vance Woodruff (0-2) took the loss for SOSU allowing six hits and two earned runs in seven innings of work in game one. The Storm recorded only three hits by Ryan Salter, Tucker Alexander and Mark Frank.

In the second game, Southeastern held a 4-0 lead until a disastrous nine-run fourth on four hits and three errors. Five pitchers saw action for the Storm, but it was starter Eddie Cervantes who took the loss.

Evan Ramsey was 2-3 at the plate with a triple, a run scored and an RBI.

Southeastern is now 3-3 and 1-2 in GAC play with a Tuesday home game against Northwoods (Texas) College at 2 p.m.
