Three people were arrested Saturday for suspicion of burglarizing the First Baptist Church in Durant, according to Durant Police, who said a cell phone left at the scene by one of the suspects led to the arrests.
On Wednesday, the music minister told Officer Scott Phelps that approximately $20,000 worth of computer equipment and musical instruments had been stolen.
A cell phone was found inside the chapel and police later determined it was owned by Hannah Marie Kinney, 20, Durant. Kinney and Onis Ray Robertson, 19, Durant and Khyle Ross Yancey Emerson, 26, Mead, were arrested, according to police.
“Detective Brandon Laxton conducted several interviews,” said Durant Police Lt. Chris Marcy. “The result of his interviews and investigation led to the arrest of three suspects on Saturday, and the successful recovery of all of the stolen property.”
Kinney and Emerson were charged Monday with knowingly concealing stolen property, according to court records. Police said they are still working on a report on Robertson and will recommend he be charged with second-degree burglary.
In other crimes, Casey Lynn Campbell, 32, David Martin Phillips, 32 and Bradley Allen Campbell, 36, all of Durant, have been charged with manufacturing methamphetamine. They were arrested last week after The District Attorney’s Drug Task Force and Durant Police searched a residence on the corner of Lynnwood and Harmony where chemical and equipment used in the manufacture of methamphetamine were seized, according to court records
