BLUE - Sixteen teams gathered at Rock Creek on Thursday to compete in a double-elimination fast pitch tournament. Three out of four area teams: Rock Creek, Colbert, and Tushka, made it into the winners bracket. A loss for Victory Life put them in the loser’s bracket.

Rock Creek overpowered Victory Life 16-1, Colbert’s fifth inning heroics led to a 5-0 win over Tishomingo and Tushka beat Atoka.

Rock Creek vs. Victory Life:

It took Rock Creek Lady Mustangs only three innings before calling it day after a run-ruled win over Victory Life.

In the bottom half of the first inning, Victory Life struggled giving Rock Creek four free passes to load the bases and the Lady Mustangs took advantage. Adree Young and Arie Young both crossed home plate on wild pitches. Then with the bases loaded again, with Michelle Wheeler, Macie Eiller and Kristian Robinson on base. Breanna Iams stepped into the batters box and hammered a line drive to the center field to clear the bases for a three RBI double.

Iams would later score on a wild pitch that gave the Lady Mustangs a 6-0 lead.

Victory Life would get three runners on base in the second inning, Amber Bruce, Caroline Jones and Michaela Jones. However, the Lady Eagles couldn’t bring any one home. In the bottom half of the second inning, the Lady Mustangs exploded for 10 runs to put the game away. With one out, Rock Creek had the bases loaded. With Wheeler,Eiller and Robinson on the bases, Iams rocked another pitch to the right field wall for a two RBI double. Then Devyn Johnson would hit a soft infield grounder, but the throw to first was wild and Robinson, Iams and Johnson would score off a throwing errors. Then Arie Young would drive in two runs with a double to center field and Eiller also drove in two runs with a triple. Robinson would end the scoring with a RBI single. Victory Life scored in the top of the third inning. Madison Watermen would cross home plate when Bruce cracked a RBI double in center field.

Rock Creek will face off today against Ft. Towson at 1:20 on filed number one.

Colbert vs Tishomingo:

Colbert’s pitcher Breawna McCraw showed her pitching power with eight strike outs, allowing only two hits in five innings of work and no runs scored.

While the games stayed scoreless until the bottom of the fifth inning, Colbert was getting runners on base, but couldn’t bring any home. In the bottom of the fifth inning, the mother nature brought a brief shower and Colbert begun to rain down runs on Tishomingo.

Jancey Weger and McCraw were on base with one out. Then Hanna Guajardo hit a RBI single into out field to score Weger. Haley McGowan would smoke a fast ball into center field for a two RBI double. Then the game would come to a 5-0 end after McGowan and Samantha Cummins scored on wild pitches.

Colbert faces off with Idabel at noon today.
