The Bryan County Junior Livestock show has kicked off at the Bryan County Fairgrounds. Friday morning, FFA and 4-H members from across the county showed up to show off their goats and sheep.
“I love getting to work with the animals and meet new people,” said Calera sophomore Mika Barkley.
Barkley said she became interested in showing goats when she joined FFA and heard her agriculture teacher talk about showing animals.
Barkley said she has been showing since eighth grade. Her goat placed fifth in its class during the show Friday.
The show continues throughout the weekend and will end with an awards ceremony and premium sale Monday evening.
